My Thoughts On The Grammy’s 2024

Hello Readers! Welcome to my post recap on The Grammy’s 2024. Sorry it was not posted yesterday, but I was busy. I was also planning on creating a post highlighting the night’s fashion looks, but I changed my mind. Instead, I will be sharing my thoughts on the awards show. So I hope you read my review, but I hope to hear from you as well. Feel free to share your thoughts on the biggest night of music.

  • Peformances

There were plenty of good performances throughout the night, but here are three that I wanted to talk about.

1) Tracy Chapman and Luke Combs “Fast Car” Performance:

When I first heard Luke Combs rendition of “Fast Car” on the radio, I was wowed. But I was especially wowed when learning that Tracy Chapman, a Black woman, was the original singer and songwriter of the song. Having not heard of it before, I appreciated that Combs recognized the song and wanted to bring it back to life. So seeing both of them singing the song on stage was exciting. I was singing along and nodding my head throughout the performance. It is really nice to see that Chapman is being recognized, so thanks to Luke Combs.

2) Joni Mitchell’s “Both Sides, Now” Performance

Now, I’m not familiar with Joni Mitchell’s discography, but I was in awe watching her perform for the first time on The Grammy’s stage. After hearing about her backstory and the fact she suffered a severe brain aneurysm, Mitchell proves she is a strong woman. Seeing her perform on the stage should inspire people to push on amidst the struggles they are facing. Also, Joni looked cute with her long pigtails and red lipstick. It was a motivating performance and I hope to see Mitchell get the chance to perform again.

3) Miley Cyrus’s “Flowers Performance:

To be honest, over the years my opinion has changed about Miley Cyrus. I especially adored her during the Hannah Montana era, but when it came to the Bangers era, I was unpleased. But with the Endless Summer Vacation era, I commend Cyrus. Enjoying the album, especially “Flowers” & “Jaded,” I appreciate the self-love message, proving that you can love yourself. I founded Cyrus’s performance fun and exciting, especially when she proclaimed, “I’m a Grammy winner.” This performance by Cyrus was not a wild one, but it was admiring and respectful.

  • The Winners & Snubs
Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Miley Cyrus, and Victoria Monet recieving Grammy Awards

FWhen it comes to the awards, I got to see a few artists that I especially enjoy win. First of all, my girl Taylor made history (First person in history to win Album of the Year four times). Now you may not be a huge fan of hers or you don’t know her songs, but Midnights is a really fun album. There are catchy songs such as “Lavender Haze,” “Karma,” and “Bejeweled.” And there are the songs with deep meanings such as “Anti-Hero,” “You’re On Your Own Kid,” and “Dear Reader.” If you haven’t listen to Midnights or any TS songs, you should give it a try. You may find a song that you can dance, shout, or cry with.

Also, I was happy to see Blilie Ellish, SZA, Miley Cyrus, Tyla, etc. get their Grammy’s too. It was definitely the year of women receiving Grammy Gold. But there were some people I was hoping to see win a Grammy. For example, Olivia Rodrigo lost out on all of her nominations. I really enjoyed the “Vampire” song, so it would had been nice for her to get recognized. She does have three though and will hopefully have more opportunities. Also, I was rooting for Coco Jones and Halle Bailey to win, but sadly they didn’t.

  • One Thing I was surprised by:
Lizzo Presenting Best R&B Song at The Grammy’s 2024

Lizzo’s appearance at the awards ceremony. If you haven’t heard, Lizzo was at The Grammys presenting Best R&B Song, which her friend, SZA won. Checking out the news, I wasn’t the only one shocked that Lizzo was there. Amidst all of the harassment lawsuits filed against Lizzo, which involve sexual harassment, discrimination, etc., it’s strange that they allowed her to present. Even though she hasn’t been founded guilty, the amount of people coming forward and the claims being made sounds like it’s true.

  • The Other Big Surprise of The Night:
Celine Dion at the 2024 Grammys

Celine Dion presenting The Album of the Year! When The Grammys were saying that one of the greatest voices of all time was going to present, I literally thought of Dion. It was amazing and exciting to see her since she hasn’t been present in the music and Pop Culture scene. Knowing that Celine has been suffering from stiff person syndrome is heartbreaking, but I applaud her for staying strong and aspiring to return singing that beautiful voice of hers. I will not be fully commenting on the topic everyone is talking about 😒😒, but there is literally a photo of them together (Celine & Taylor). And if you think it’s a PR statement, you really don’t know Taylor.🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀
