Thoughts On Super Bowl Sunday!

Hello Readers! Welcome to my review on Super Bowl Sunday. Sorry my post is late, but I was busy getting my Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl Champs Merch! That’s right, The Kansas City Chiefs won the Super Bowl two years in a row. I’m elated just like everybody else who is a Chiefs fan. There were some tough moments in the game, but that winning catch by Mecole Hardman lead the team to victory. I’m proud to be a Chiefs fan and I’m excited to see the team make many more accomplishments. Now, I have some other thoughts on other moments of the big night. Here are those thoughts below:

  • Super Bowl Halftime Show
Usher Performing at the Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show

I have two words for Usher’s Halftime Show: Entertaining and Energtic! I really enjoyed Usher’s peformance, especially the roller skating part of the show. Like I said before, from his outfits, to his dance moves, and swagger, Usher can put on a show. Also, the other famous performers that joined Usher on stage helped electrify the performance as well. For example, I love Alicia Keys and I got really excited to see her perform “My Boo” with him again. And seeing H.E.R on stage as well was awesome since she is a terrific singer, songwriter, and guitar player. This is one of the best halftime shows that have happened in Super Bowl history.

  • Other Peformances
Andra Day Performing “Lift Every Voice and Sing” at Super Bowl LVIII

First of all, I was happy to see Andra Day perform the Black National Anthem, “Lift Every Voice and Sing.” She is one of many artists that has a lovely voice and it’s nice to see her get recognition. Now everything is not going to be perfect, but I thought that Day could had sang the song by herself. Her singing with the other backup singers wasn’t cohesive, as it sounded like they were singing over one another. Also, it’s crazy and sad to see people complaining about the song being sung. Instead of ranting, let Black people like me and others enjoy and celebrate Black culture.

Also, I really did enjoy Post Malone’s cover of “America the Beautiful.” His cover of the song was different, but unique. And Reba’s cover of the national anthem was really good as well. Adding a country spin to the song, it was a job well done. Since I always liked Reba and have seen her sing before, I knew she would give a good performance.

  • Big Movie Trailers/ Commercials

There were a couple big movie trailers that were released during Super Bowl Sunday, but here are two that I’m really excited about:

  1. Deadpool & Wolverine (July 26th, 2024)

Since I am a huge Marvel fan, I got really excited to see the Deadpool & Wolverine trailer. From all of the rumors and theories about the movie, many people have been waiting to get a look at the movie, including me. From the trailer so far, one thing we know is that Deadpool will be getting introduced to the multiverse. We see that Pyro, a character in X2 & X-Men: The Last Stand, played by Aaron Stanford, will be reprising his role. Also, we get a glimpse of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine at the end of the trailer. Now if you haven’t seen Deadpool before, you should check it out. But for starters though, if you don’t like gore or violence, Deadpool is not for you. I’m ready for this movie though and cannot wait to see it explore the multiverse.

2) Wicked ( November 27th, 2024)

This was the second trailer that really captured my attention during the big game. Wicked, the broadway musical about Elphaba Thropp (Wicked Witch of the West) and Galinda Upland (Glinda the Good) has been adapated for the big screen. Directed by Jon M. Chu, the two titular roles will be portayed by Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande. Other major stars in the film include Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, Jonathan Bailey, etc. Now I’ve seen some people criticizing how the movie looks, but it looks amazing to me. The trailer literally gives me Land of Oz vibes. Later on this year, another trailer will be released, which hopefully will convince people to check the movie out. But I am already convinced that this movie will be good, so I’ll be waiting for November to come.

Now when it comes to the commericals, I didn’t have a particular favorite, but some of them were funny. For example, I did enjoy the Agent State Farm commercial featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito. If you didn’t see the commercial, here is the video:

I did also enjoy both of the apartments.com commercials that were featured during the Super Bowl as well. Here is one of them:

This is the end of my Super Bowl LVII Review. I hope you check out my review and if you do, thanks. Feel free to comment as well.
